Reconcile mobile-money statements to your sales

Many businesses take most of their money on a mobile-money till. Its statement is strong evidence: Ziira matches each transaction code to a sale and flags sales that have no receipt.

Why it works

Staff enter sales; a statement is produced by the provider and is hard to alter. Comparing the two finds sales marked as mobile money that never arrived, and money that arrived against no sale. The manual routine is in reconcile mobile-money statements to sales.

How you provide it

  • Download the statement as PDF, Excel or CSV and drop it on the connection.
  • These PDFs are often password-protected. Ziira asks for the password and uses it once.
  • Provider names do not matter: the layout is worked out from the file, with no country wired in.

What is checked

  • Sales paid by mobile money or bank with no matching statement line (by code, or by amount within a time window).
  • Money received that matches no sale or invoice.
  • Duplicate payments.

Limits

  • Matching uses the transaction code first, then amount and time; it is not strictly one-to-one.
  • It is only as good as how consistently the code is recorded at the till.
  • Live notices need a direct integration (see the M-Pesa add-on); statements give daily history.
  • Upload a recent statement first, to see how well it matches.
